Got a story you want to post to a JetCJr pond, or want to submit it here but it needs betaing and you don't know who to ask?  That's what the Beta Bar is for.  The list of people below are volunteers who will beta a story for you.

A good beta will check grammar, spelling, clarity and continuity for you, unless you ask otherwise, and will make general suggestions as to how they think your fic could be even better (however, you're not obliged to use the suggestion if you don't want to, it is -your- fic after all).

Or you can simply get an opinion on a work in progress, ask them to simply read it through and maybe suggest things you could do to improve the story, or give you ideas as to what happens next if you're stuck, or bounce your ideas off them.

Don't forget to e-mail the beta reader before sending your story - it's polite to ask them if they have the time to beta for you (bear in mind that these are real people with real lives, so sometimes, if RL is very hectic they might not have the time), and no one likes getting mega k's delivered into their inbox without prior warning.

We have listed the volunteers nationality, as sometimes it can be useful to have American beta readers as sometimes it can be useful to have an American check over your work to check that the phrases you have used are not colloquial expressions that would never be used on Voyager.  For example: Kathryn would wear pants, not trousers.

This is not to say that American beta readers are any better or any worse than anyone else, or that you should only use American beta readers, it can also be useful to use a beta reader of the same nationality as you, as then spelling differences will not be an issue.  Examples are color and colour, honor and honour, specialize and specialise.
